So, so very interesting: For anyone who has a child, has had a child or was once a child themselves. What are your thoughts on attachment?

Attachment is everything….. what a great talker, bullying and victim are also interesting id like to hear what he says about that. Once you tap into attachment you start seeing it, especially with families you know well xxx

SO , SO TRUE, so true.
Then….In following Buddhism (or other Eastern faiths like Taoism and Jainism) we find an approach in which the practice of non-attachment is a fundamental. In fact, it was the Buddha’s striving to free himself from the cycle of attachment to life itself, which led him to achieve Buddhahood. I am not that clear about his experiences sitting under the bodhi tree, but I can imagine that part of the tribulation was to face the demon of desires… In Christian mythology, also we find that as Christ, Jesus was invited to temptations of attachment to worldly goods.
Yet, on the other hand, attachment to family, friends, locations, thoughts and the like is what defines us and gives us cause to love, care and cherish these things.
One of approaches in life is to consder balance as a meeting of polarities.
Since posting this video, I have thought long and hard about the polar opposite to attachment, which in Eastern philosophies is non-attachment.
Then I found a word, that I did not know I was looking for, until I found it. I, like everyone else, have used the word casually and often and always with different impact depending on its context.
I have thought about this word and feel that it is more meaningful as a polar opposite to attachment then the choice of non- or dis- attachment. I won’t add it just yet, because it is always better to have a think about these things… a bit like a riddle or a fable which gives satisfaction in the solving rather than the solution.
